Biography
Paula Gómez Álvarez is Associate Professor in University of Huelva (UHU) since January 2023. She is member of the FILICO research group, of the Departamento de Ciencias Integradas, and of CIQSO-Centro de Investigación en Química Sostenible.
Paula Gómez Álvarez received her M. Sc. (2007, with 3.85 out of 4; Extraordinary Prize of Degree and Second National Prize) and PhD (2012, cum laude and Extraordinary Doctoral Prize) in Physics from the University of Vigo (UVigo). She has been awarded with prestigious grants and research fellowships from MEC such as the FPU predoctoral and Juan de la Cierva-incorporación postdoctoral programmes. She received furthermore the predoctoral grant from the Xunta de Galicia and several researching grants from UVigo. She also received the FPU grant for brief predoctoral stays and worked during 4 months in Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (France). She conducted her postdoctoral research in RASPA group in University Pablo de Olavide (UPO) (2013-2016) with a contract funded by ERC Starting Grant, and in IQFR-CSIC (2017). Her postdoctoral research line was focused on molecular simulations of adsorption of fluids in porous materials, and their applications.
She has acquired teaching experience before her current position as FPU grant holder (2010-2012) and as Assistant professor (2018-2023). She has supervised 3 postgraduate students (1 PhD and 2 Master’s end projects). She participated in Educational Journal MoleQla during her postdoctoral stay at the UPO as well as in other projects of teaching innovation. She is now IP of various projects of teaching innovation in the University of Huelva relative to “UHUniverso” (https://www.uhu.es/revista-uhuniverso/index.html) , a scientific divulgation journal in UHU.
P. Gomez-Alvarez is author of 38 peer-reviewed articles (most of them in Q1 and as first or corresponding author), including ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces (IF 8.456), Chemical Communications (IF 6.834) and Chemistry–A European Journal (IF 5.771). Researcher ID AAF-4294-2020 and ORCID 0000-0001-9440-0600. She is scientific reviewer for many journals in her specialty such as Journal of Physical Chemistry. She attended numerous national and international conferences, with 16 oral communications and several poster contributions. Also, she served at the organizing committee of Thermodynamics conference in 2019. She has participated in numerous research projects (European and National).
