Caracterización de las Calizas de Almayate (Malaga) y evaluación de la calidad técnica como Materiales de Construcción

Abstract

Since XVIII century, Miocene-Pliocene limestones from Almayate (Málaga) were used In historical buildings o f Western Andalusian Heritage. They are sandy bioclastic limestones, w it h high p o ro s ity and water absorption, and low mechanical strength. These properties correspond to a low technical quality stone as building material, which should prevent its use for construction. Presently buildings made up of Almayate limestones should be treated with appropiate protective products.
