Abstract
In Social Work with families, the assessment of the family situation is a necessary step to design an appropriate intervention project. Related to this, several key factors must be taken into account, such as how families face reality, their own self-perception, and the discourses they construct about themselves. One way of analyzing these key factors is to pay attention to their patterns of interaction and their relational dynamics. This article presents the results of a research conducted on the narratives of Spanish families. The results show how the relation between family lifestyle and specific risks of social exclusion allows to establish a set of intervention strategies that facilitate the professional intervention of social workers.
