Abstract

The study of karst hazards from different methodologies is presented. The application of aerial photography studies, geotechnical approach and geophysical surveys show different results if they are considered in an independent way. The comparison between geophysics and aerial photography studies shows a good correlation whereas the detection of the main hazard zones can be ambiguous when only the geotechnical approach is considered. In the studied example, the higher dynamic strength of the materials occurs in the potentially most hazardous zones, because this parameter is related to the artificial filling of the subsiding zones. On the other hand, the integrated analysis from the three different points of view (aerial photographs, geotechnical and geophysical) permits: (i) the planning of the geotechnical survey in the anomalous zones and (ii) the lateral correlation of the obtained results from the isolated geotechnical tests
