La escritura del remedio en el Guzmán de Alfarache de Mateo Alemán y en el apócrifo de Mateo de Luján de Sayavedra

Abstract

Abundan en el Guzmán de Alfarache las referencias a la materia médica y, más particularmente, a los remedios. Tanto la cantidad como la especificidad de los empleos literales y metafóricos recalcan el profundo arraigamiento de la escritura del remedio en la autobiografía ficticia de Mateo Alemán. No obstante, y a pesar de las líneas de continuidad que existen entre la primera parte de 1599 y la segunda de 1604, cabe preguntarse qué papel desempeñó la secuela apócrifa de 1602 en la reescritura de la segunda parte auténtica alemaniana. Este artículo pretende mostrar cómo, al imitar la escritura del remedio de Mateo Alemán, Mateo Luján de Sayavedra obligó a su ilustre predecesor a reafirmar su poética propia, diferenciándose del copiador.

References to materia medica and more particularly to remedies abound in Guzmán de Alfarache. Both the quantity and the specificity of their uses, whether literal or metaphorical, emphasize the assimilation of the writing of the remedy in the fictional autobiography by Mateo Alemán. However, and despite the poetic continuity that exists between the first part of 1599 and the second of 1604, it is worth wondering what role did the apocryphal sequel published in 1602 play in the rewriting of Alemán’s authentic second part. This article aims to show how, by imitating the Mateo Alemán’s writing of the remedy, Mateo Luján de Sayavedra forced his illustrious predecessor to reaffirm his own poetics, differentiating himself from the plagiarist.
