La crisis del agua en Oriente Medio y sus connotaciones hidropolíticas

Abstract

El agua apaga la sed, y también puede funcionar como chispa que prende el fuego. Los últimos estudios e investigaciones alertan sobre la escasez de este recurso vital, e incluso advierten que el concepto “Guerra por el agua” será uno de los que encuentren mayor resonancia mediática. El futuro se pre-senta repleto conflictos, a pesar de la existencia de leyes y regulaciones esta-tales, especialmente entre países con cuencas y desembocaduras fluviales. El mejor ejemplo lo hallamos en Oriente Medio, una de las regiones más proclives a ser escenario de conflictos bélicos, especialmente desde la aparición de Is-rael como gran protagonista.
