Abstract
El presente análisis se enmarca en el estudio de las obras de fray Juan de
la Virgen y de Alonso de la Madre de Dios en las que se describen las festividades celebradas en los diferentes conventos carmelitas de Madrid, con motivo de la canonización
de san Juan de la Cruz. Las obras vieron la luz en los años de 1728 y 1729. En ellas, se
describen las aclamaciones realizadas en los diferentes conventos de la capital, se detallan
los exornos dispuestos en las lonjas, iglesias y claustros y el adorno de las calles, altares
y santos. Además, incluyen e insertan cuarenta oraciones sagradas que fueron realizadas
durante las fiestas en los diferentes templos
The present analysis is framed in the study of the works of Fray Juan de la Virgen and Alonso de la Madre de Dios, which describe the festivities celebrated in the different Carmelite convents of Madrid, on the occasion of the canonization of San Juan de la Cruz. The works were published in the years 1728 and 1729. In them, the acclamations made in the different convents of the capital are described, the embellishments arranged in the markets, churches and cloisters, the decoration of the streets, altars and saints. In addition, they include and insert forty sacred prayers that were performed during the festivals in the different temples
