The biomarkers, mainly n-alkanes, preserved in the Roñanzas Peat Bog record allow to identify Sphagnum vs. Ericacea-dominated episodes, which are related to five cyclic humid periods alternating with other five dry phases, respectively, over the last 2500 years. Because of the excellent preservation of materials in ombrotrophic bogs, with lacking of any anthropic influence, it is possible to extend these results to the north of the Iberian Peninsula. Good correspondence is also observed with studies from the central part of Spain and global palaeoclimatic eventsen_US
