Abstract

Various types of ferromanganese deposits, of Upper Miocene age, form part of the Las Herrerías mineralization (Betic Cordillera, SE Spain): Oxidized beds, crusts, hydrothermal pipes and brecciatype structures, thin layers which include Fe-ooides, and small spilling deposits. They are specially rich in Fe, Mn, Pb, Zn, Cu, Ba, Sb and Ag, in accordance with the mineral paragenesis of Las Herrerías hydrothermal, seafloor deposit. The geochemical study of these ferromanganese deposits was carried out, stressing on their hydrothermal nature and their position, in space and time, in relation with the host rocks
