Brusco incremento de foraminíferos planctónicos aberrantes en Agost (SE España) tras el límite Cretácico/Paleógeno

Abstract

Se han revisado los datos bioestratigráficos y cuantitativos de foraminíferos planctónicos de la sección de Agost (Alicante, SE España), y se ha estimado la abundancia relativa de foraminíferos planctónicos aberrantes tras el límite Cretácico/Paleógeno (K/Pg). Se han identificado dos intervalos con estrés ambiental en el Daniense inferior, caracterizados por el incremento de ejemplares aberrantes: 1) Intervalo de los primeros 10 Ka tras el límite K/Pg, relacionado con los efectos a largo plazo del impacto de Chicxulub; 2) Intervalo entre 100 y 350 Ka tras el límite K/Pg, relacionado con el pulso volcánico Ambelani del Decán

The biostratigraphic and quantitative data of planktic foraminifera from the Agost section (Alicante, SE Spain) have been reviewed, and the relative abundance of aberrant planktic foraminifera after the Cretaceous/Paleogene (K/Pg) boundary has been estimated. Two intervals with environmental stress have been identified in the lower Danian, characterized by the increase in aberrant specimens: 1) Interval of the first 10 Ka after the K/Pg boundary, linked to the long-term effects of the Chicxulub impact; 2) Interval between 100 and 350 Ka after the K/Pg boundary, linked to the Ambelani volcanic pulse of the Deccan
