Actualidad del pensamiento de Beccaria contra la tortura

Abstract

En muchas ocasiones se ha acusado a Beccaria de plagiar las ideas que exponían otros. Pese a ser esto parcialmente cierto, no cabe duda de su mérito por haber sintetizado muchas de estas ideas en un breve opúsculo, redactado de forma sencilla y brillante, que ha conseguido mantener su vigencia du-rante dos siglos y medio. En todo caso, por lo que se refiere al razonamiento en relación con la tortura, el rechazo que Beccaria hace de la misma es total, sin ningún tipo de reservas o excepciones, y no solo por razones puramente utilitaristas, sino también por razones humanistas y de justiciaIn many instances Beccaria has been accused of plagiarize ideas exposed by other authors.
