The cave of Marvels has been the object of a detailed study since 1993 which has allowed us to identify the main effects deriving from tourist visits and human activity on the environment. Although the deterioration is by no means irreversible, it should be noted that there are noticeable effects on the subterranean water occupying part of the cave on the air, with an appreciable rise in temperature and carbon anhydryde content and reduction in humidity, and on the rock, with evident growths of algae, lichens and fungien_US
