Abstract
Neste trabalho analisamos fontes do
Tribunal Eclesiástico de Braga possibilitando-
nos conhecer as dinâmicas femininas
nesta instituição da Igreja Católica ao longo
de setecentos. Para maior esclarecimento,
dividimos os processos analisados em dois
grupos: um referente a processos movidos
contra mulheres que viviam em clausura e
outro por incumprimento do voto de Santiago.
Estamos, por conseguinte, perante
mulheres diferentes e com causas também
distintas. Todas eram acusadas de incumprimento,
no primeiro caso violando leis
importas à instituição e às religiosas e no
segundo devido ao não pagamento do voto
de Santiago. Neste percurso foi possível
conhecer o funcionamento da instituição e
as mudanças que conheceu, mas também
penas atribuídas.
In this work we analyze sources of the Ecclesiastical Court of Braga allowing us to know the feminine dynamics in this institution of the Catholic Church throughout the seventeenth century. For further clarification, we divided the processes analyzed into two groups: one referring to processes brought against women who lived in confinement and another for non-compliance with the vow of Santiago. We are, therefore, facing different women and also different causes. All were accused of non-compliance, in the first case violating laws important to the institution and the nuns and in the second due to non-payment of the vow of Santiago. In this journey it was possible to know the functioning of the institution and the changes it has undergone, but also penalties assigned.
