Abstract

In the Aliaga subbasin (Central Iberian Range) crops out a mainly calcareous serie corresponding to the Tithonic-Berriasian Villar Arzobispo Formation. There are important litological differences between this serie and other outcrops of the same Formation in this region. The unit developed in an internal platform (lagoon) with occasional development of channels. The lagoon was protected from clastic supply (characteristic in turn in the other sections of the region). The external zones of the platform were affected by storms and Its influence is registred in the lagoon like gradded and laminated facies (distal tempestites). The unit has a shallowing evolution topwards, changing its facies to a supratidal deposits. Landwards a coastal shallow lacustrine system developed
