Abstract
The turtle record from the Early Cretaceous of Spain is very abundant and diverse. All previous reports came from the Iberian Range. Material of turtles found in the Basque-Cantabrian Basin is presented here. These specimens, coming from the Hauterivian-Barremian of the Vega de Pas Formation (Cantabria), correspond to plates of both the carapace and the plastron. The presence of an undetermined representative of Eucryptodira, which differs from the taxa so far identified in the European record, is recognized
