Problemática de las calizas del Cretácico Superior en las cimentaciones de Oviedo

Abstract

In rocky substratum of Oviedo (N Spain) there is an important carbonate formation of Upper Cretaceous age. This level has interest into applied geology on having supposed a surface of preferential foundation for city buildings and, in fact, mechanical laboratory tests show that its geotechnical behavior is very good. Nevertheless some punctual deficiencies like karstification processes appear at these limestones, involving a certain risk of zonal failure in structures foundations
