In Martianum Capellam IV : el otro egersimon

Abstract

En un reciente libro sobre Marciano Capela, R. Schievenin se hacía eco de nuestra propuesta de exégesis del término ἐγέρσιμον que aparece en I 2 del De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii. Por diversas razones, la consideraba una improbabile interpretazione. Aun admitiendo que algunas de las razones esgrimidas por Schievenin pueden ser ciertas, en nada hacen improbabile nuestra interpretación. Al contrario, el uso y significado del otro egersimon en IX 911, que entonces omitíamos, no hace sino reforzar nuestra exégesis en detrimento de la de Schievenin y otros autores que opinan de modo parecido.In a recent book on Martianus Capella, R. Schievenin referred to our exegesis proposal of ἐγέρσιμον, a word appearing in I 2 of De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii. For different reasons, he considered it as an improbabile interpretation (“improbable interpretation”). Even admitting that some of the reasons argued by Schievening may be true, they don’t make improbabile our interpretation. On the contrary, the use and meaning of the other egersimon in IX 911 -what we omitted in our work- contributes to reinforce our exegesis to the detriment of Schivenin’s and other scholars’ opinion.
