Abstract
planteamientos
Entrepreneurship emerges as a possibility, and sometimes the only possibility, for immigrants to integrate into the labour market. It is therefore necessary to design effective institutional intervention tools to promote entrepreneurship among these groups. In this sense, this study demonstrates, on the one hand, the value of immigrant networks and their community leaders as generators of ethnic resources and, on the other, the importance of counselling and microcredit programmes as a means of boosting immigrant businesses. Combining both elements, the analysis focuses on the crucial role played by community leaders as intermediaries between microcredit programmes and immigrant entrepreneurs. It can be seen as a form of community intervention that enables funding and mentoring opportunities to reach particular immigrant groups much more effectively. In particular, the results obtained from a pilot project carried out in Toulouse under these premises are analysed
