Las anotaciones críticas de Gabriele Faerno al Bellum Gallicum de César sobre un ejemplar de la edición de Roma, 1472 (Vat. Inc. II 10)

Abstract

El incunable de la Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Inc. II 10, de la edición de Roma [Sweynheym & Pannartz], 1472 (GW 058863; ISTC ic00018000) conserva unas correcciones inéditas del humanista Gabriele Faerno (1510-1561) en los siete libros de Bellum Gallicum de autoría de Julio César. El propósito de este artículo es, tras el estudio completo de estas anotaciones, ofrecer una muestra de la casuística encontrada, analizar su valor crítico, clarificar las fuentes manuscritas, impresas o conjeturas de otros comentaristas utilizados por el humanista, y precisar su influencia en la historia crítica del texto. Aunque este erudito elaboró un valioso número de conjeturas para el Bellum Gallicum, algunas de ellas admitidas en la actualidad en el Corpus Caesarianum, argumentaremos como las anotaciones del incunable han sido esencialmente desconocidas por la crítica posterior

The incunabulum of the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Inc.II 10 of the Rome edition [Sweynheym & Pannartz], 1472 (GW 058863; ISTC ic00018000) keeps unpublished corrections by the humanist Gabriele Faerno (1510-1561) written in the seven books of Caesar’s Bellum Gallicum. The aim of this article, after the exhaustive study of these annotations, is to offer a sample of the case studies found, to discuss their critical value, to clarify the manuscript sources, printed books and other humanists’ conjectures used by Faerno, and to specify their influence on the critical history of the text. Even though this scholar made a great number of conjectures for the Bellum Gallicum, some of them currently admitted in the Corpus Caesarianum, we will argue that the annotations in the incunabulum have been essentially ignored by later critics
