La economía de Tejada la Nueva (Huelva) a través de las fuentes arqueológicas, numismáticas y textuales

Abstract

En este artículo vamos a hacer un recorrido diacrónico por la orientación económica de Tejada la Nueva (antigua TUCCI del Itinerario de Antonino), desde la época antigua hasta su despoblación ocurrida a principios del siglo XVI. Para ello vamos a basarnos en el análisis de tres tipos de fuentes: las arqueológicas, a través del estudio tanto de vías antiguas como de asentamientos; nos ocuparemos igualmente de las acuñaciones monetales encontradas en el despoblado de Tejada en el siglo XIX; y finalmente el tercer tipo de fuentes lo constituyen las citas textuales contenidas en la documentación medieval y en menor medida en las fuentes antiguas. Todo ello argumentará la existencia de una economía que a través del tiempo se sustentó en tres pilares fundamentales: la agricultura, la ganadería y la metalurgia.______________________________In this work we are going to do a revision based on the economic aspect of the village Tejada la Nueva (the ancient TUCCI of El Itinerario de Antonino), from the antiquity age to its depopulation, with took place at the beginning of XVIth century a.C. This paper analyses three sources: the archaeologicals remains, to study old ways and sentlements; at the same time we are going to see the coins found in the underpopulated Tejada la Nueva at the XIXth century a.C.; and finally, the last sources font type are the textual references contained in ancient and medieval documents. This study will argue the existence of an economic system that subsisted, through all time, on three basic resources: agriculture, cattle raising and the metallurgy of copper and silver from mines in Tejada and the Corumbel river.
