Cartografía geofísica y caracterización geoquímica del Complejo Plutónico de Valencia del Ventoso

Abstract

The Valencia del Ventoso Massif is a plutonic complex that consists of different intrusive units whose compositions extend from gabbros to monzogranites. The main lithologic units display a zoned distribution whose geometry is distorted by reason of the mingling and dismemberment of the intrusive bodies. The geodinamic characterization based on the geochemical data shows that this plutonic complex corresponds to a high potassium calc-alkaline association, typical of an active continental margin or of a mature island arc environment. The Massif is covered by recent magnetic and radiometric flights, as well as by a regional gravimetric net (IGME 1997, 2001). The aeroradiometric, aeromagnetic and gravimetric maps show a high degree of agreement and they provide good view of the outcrop geometry and subsurface pattern of the main geological units of the complex. This paper shows that airborne geophysical cartography combined with surface geophysical data and field geological research is a very valuable mapping tool of complex plutonic bodies
