Abstract

The main features of the stress - strain behaviour of granular soils are described in this paper on the basis o f the typical results of triaxial tests. The principal feature of this behaviour consists on the capability of this kind of soils to change their volume when they are suffering shear strains. The complete and genera/ behaviour of granular soils is explained through a general theory known as Critical State Theory
