Abstract
La medición del impacto social constituye
un proceso clave para las empresas sociales.
Sin embargo, estas organizaciones siguen enfrentándose
en la actualidad a numerosas dificultades
para evaluar sus impactos. En efecto,
medir el impacto social generado supone una
tarea compleja, que todavía plantea múltiples
retos.
Social impact measurement is a key process for social enterprises. However, these organisations are still facing many difficulties when assessing their real impacts. Indeed, measuring the social impact generated is a complex task, which encompasses several challenges. Understanding the limitations of the existing methodologies might help to improve and simplify these processes. Therefore, the aim of this research is to demonstrate the current disadvantages of the SROI (Social Return on Investment) methodology, by analysing eleven real projects that promote gender equality in different fields. This study supports, from a practical approach, the scientific community's understanding of the difficulties in attributing monetary value to social impact using SROI. The results reveal the absence of standard criteria, the subjectivity of the analysis and a causality breakdown in the process. Furthermore, findings show the complexity involved in the implementation of this method. Identified shortcomings are discussed and improvements are suggested to make SROI an optimal tool for measuring social impact globally.
