La reciente posición española sobre desarme en Naciones Unidas

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza la reciente posición española en materia de desarme y no proliferación ante Naciones Unidas, pues nuestro país ha sido miembro de su Consejo de Seguridad durante el bienio 2015-2016. En ese marco privilegiado, España presidió varios comités sobre sanciones, desarme y no proliferación de armas de destrucción masiva, además de ser Parte en los tratados internacionales sobre regulación de armamentos, y haber promovido numerosos foros e iniciativas internacionales conexos. Esta política española ha servido para fortalecer su credibilidad e imagen en el mundo, y ha contribuido a reforzar la proyección internacional de la “Marca España” en un contexto globalizado. Pero las múltiples propuestas presentadas pueden haber provocado cierta confusión sobre los objetivos a lograr, por lo que conviene clarificar y simplificar en lo posible la organización y estructuras creadas

This paper analyzes the recent Spanish position on disarmament and non-proliferation before the United Nations, since our country has been a member of its Security Council during the biennium 2015-2016. Within this privileged framework, Spain presided over several committees on sanctions, disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, as well as being a party to international treaties on the regulation of armaments, and having promoted numerous forums and related international initiatives. This Spanish policy has served to strengthen its credibility and image in the world, and it has helped to strengthen the international projection of the "Marca España" in a globalized context. But the multiple initiatives presented may have caused some confusion about the objectives to be achieved. So, it is advisable to clarify and simplify as much as possible the organization and structures established
