Hijas de la noche (I) : mito, género y nocturnidad en la Grecia antigua

Abstract

Este artículo trata acerca de la figura Nyx en la Teogonía de Hesíodo y sobre su descendencia femenina. Los autores tratan de analizar si la condición femenina de estas criaturas nocturnas les concedía, en la mentalidad griega antigua, un carácter negativo, concluyendo que la noche no era considerada malvada, sino ambigua, misteriosa y compleja.

This paper focuses on the figure of Nyx in Hesiod´s Theogony, and on her feminine offspring. The authors try to analyze if the feminine condition of these night creatures grant them a negative nature in the ancient Greek mentality. They concluded that the night was not considered to be evil, but ambiguous, mysterious and complex.
