Abstract
This article makes theoretical contributions to the contemporary analysis of identities and sociopolitical forms. First, it emphasizes the importance of integrating political, evolutionary and neuroscientific studies, which could lead to the construction of more just and viable societies. Secondly, it proposes the incorporation of evolutionary conceptual strategies and categories into political thought, which may involve breaking with modern theories of sovereignty. Finally, it is argued in favor of the applicability of the epistemological and methodological paradigm of complexity, which can be supplemented today with the new contributions of Social Neuroscience and the theory of integrative levels
