Introducción a los modelos de sistemas energéticos, económicos y medioambientales : descripción y aplicaciones del modelo POLES

Abstract

La necesidad de analizar cuestiones sobre sostenibilidad económica y ambiental ha motivado el desarrollo y empleo de los llamados modelos E3 (energy-economy-enviroment). El objetivo de estos modelos es intentar anticipar posibles problemas en el futuro, facilitando en el presente la búsqueda y el análisis de soluciones mediante el estudio de las interacciones entre los sistemas energético, económico y medioambiental. Este artículo introduce los modelos E3, explicando su evolución, sus características, su clasificación, y los resultados que pueden ofrecer. Como ilustración se describe el modelo POLES, uno de los más importantes usados por la Comisión Europea, y se muestra una aplicación de dicho modelo para el proyecto WETO (World Energy Technology Outlook) _______________________________________The need to analyse issues about economic and environmental sustainability has encouraged the development and use of the so-called E3 models (energy-economy-environment). These models aim to anticipate possible problems in the future, facilitating the search and the analysis of solutions by studying the interactions between the energy, the economic and the environmental sectors. This article introduces the E3 models, explaining their evolution, features, classification, and possible outcomes. As an illustration, the POLES model, one of the most important models used by the European Commission, is described, and it is shown an application of this model within the WETO project (World Energy Technology Outlook).
