Abstract

This paper focuses on the development of an explicative model regarding the entry mode into a new market as chosen by Spanish hotel chains. Two types of variables have been analysed: some which refer specifically to the destination country, including its potential and cultural distance and others which depend on the company itself, such as its financial situation, the experience gained previously in the country or the company’s degree of internationalisation. Several hypotheses have been put forward and empirically tested using secondary data
Este documento se centra en el desarrollo de un modelo explicativo en cuanto al modo de entrada en un mercado nuevo elegido por las cadenas hoteleras españolas. Han sido analizadas dos tipos de variables: algunas que se refieren específicamente al país de destino, incluyendo su potencial y distancia cultural y otros que dependen de la compañía misma, tales como su situación financiera, la experiencia ganada anteriormente en el país o el grado de internacionalización de la compañía. Algunas hipótesis han sido propuestas y analizadas empíricamente usando datos secundarios.
