Fallas de edad Pleistoceno superior en el entorno del terremoto de Huesa, Jaén (4.4 mbLg, 31/01/2012): implicaciones sismotectónicas

Abstract

Se describe aquí por primera vez el Sistema de Fallas de Collejares, un grupo de fallas descubierto en el entorno del terremoto ocurrido al oeste de Huesa, de magnitud 4,4 mbLg, el 31/01/2012, en el extremo oriental de la Cuenca del Guadalquivir. Las fallas tienen una dirección N090-120º E, con sentido de cizalla tanto dextro como inverso. El mecanismo focal del terremoto concuerda con la cinemática de una falla del Sistema de Collejares que presenta evidencias de desplazamientos de desgarre de una edad menor de 24 ka. Éste trabajo propone que el Sistema de Fallas de Collejares sería compatible con el estado de esfuerzos deducido del mecanismo focal del terremoto de Huesa, y contribuye al conocimiento del contexto sismotectónico actual del extremo suroeste del Arco de Cazorla

The Collejares fault system is a group of faults, described for first time here, in the neighborhood of the mbLg 4.4W Huesa earthquake, occurred the 01/31/2012 at the eastern end of the Guadalquivir Basin. The faults have a N090-120ºE strike, with both dextral and reverse sense of shearing. The focal mechanism of the earthquake agrees with the kinematics of a fault of the Collejares System with evidence of strike-slip displacements younger than 24 ka. This work proposes that Collejares faults are consistent with the stress field inferred from focal mechanism of the Huesa earthquake, and contributed to understanding the recent seismotectonics context of the southwestern end of the Cazorla Arc
