Abstract
Three examples of sillciclastic valley fills are recognized within the upper Maastrlchtian-lower Paleogene carbonate platform deposits of Alava. A genetic model, in the context of sequence stratigraphy, makes it evident the existence ofdiferent types ofmeaninful stratigraphic boundaries
