Chinese outbound to tourism : new challenges for european tourism

Abstract

The growth of China’s outbound tourism is a source of both threats and opportunities for European countries. Therefore, European tourism institutions and companies should focus their attention on this emerging market. The objective of this paper is to analyze the consequences that the boom in Chinese tourism could have for European tourism. A critical analysis provides the basis for actions and measures that the main European tourism institutions and companies should adopt in order to face these new challenges.

El crecimiento del turismo exterior de China es una fuente de amenazas y oportunidades para los países europeos. Por tanto, las instituciones y compañías de turismo en Europa deberían centrar su atención en este mercado emergente. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las consecuencias que este auge en el turismo en China podría tener para el turismo europeo. Un análisis crítico provee las bases para acciones y medidas que las principales instituciones y compañías de turismo en Europa deberían adoptar para hacer frente a este nuevo desafío.
