Abstract

Several paleoceanographic considerations have been carried out based on the seismic stratigraphy analysis in the Holocene sedimentary record of the Bay of Cádiz. Present oceanographic conditions in the Bay show us the main role of the tidal outflow in the local hidrodynamic and sediment transport. Nevertheles, a tidal sedimentary deposits, present in the Holocene record of the external Bay characterize a oposite tidal current to the present one. This important change in the oceanographic regime could be due to a differente paleogeographic and sea level conditions during the time of the deposit (eustatic maximum Holocene) in relation with the present situation
