Abstract
Los hábitos de actividad física (AF) y de alimentación son una de las
principales causas de algunas de las enfermedades con mayor prevalencia en
la actualidad y están estrechamente relacionadas con los trastornos de la
conducta alimentaria. En este estudio se pretendió describir y relacionar los
hábitos de AF y sedentarismo, los patrones de alimentación, el índice de masa
corporal, la satisfacción con la imagen corporal en los municipios colindantes al
Guadiana en Portugal y España. La muestra fue de 2261 estudiantes de primaria
de 6 a 10 años, correspondientes a los municipios de Ayamonte y de la
Mancomunidad de Beturia en España; y municipios del Algarve y Mértola en
Portugal. El índice de AF fue evaluado con el test corto de AF Krece Plus. El índice
de masa corporal (IMC) se calculó a través de la medición del peso y estatura.
La calidad de la dieta a través del cuestionario KIDMED. La satisfacción con la
imagen corporal se midió con las figuras de Collins. Se incluyeron ítems
relacionados con hábitos televisivos. Entre los resultados más relevantes, se ha
encontrado que el nivel de actividad física está por debajo de las
recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS). Hay un 22,5%
de niños con sobrepeso y un 11,1% con obesidad. Casi la mitad de la muestra
necesita mejorar su dieta. Más del 60% está insatisfecho con su imagen corporal.
La mayoría de los niños tienen TV en su cuarto y comen viéndola
Physical activity (PA) and eating habits are one of the main causes of some of the most prevalent diseases today and are closely related to eating disorders. This study aimed to describe and relate the habits of PA and sedentary lifestyle, eating patterns, body mass index, satisfaction with body image in the municipalities adjacent to Guadiana in Portugal and Spain. The sample was 2261 elementary students from 6 to 10 years of age, corresponding to the municipalities of Ayamonte and the Commonwealth of Beturia in Spain; and municipalities of the Algarve and Mértola in Portugal. The PA index was evaluated with the short Krece Plus PA test. Body mass index (BMI) was calculated by measuring weight and height. The quality of the diet through the KIDMED questionnaire. Satisfaction with body image was measured with Collins figures. Items related to television habits were included. Among the most relevant results, it has been found that the level of physical activity is below the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). There are 22.5% of overweight children and 11.1% with obesity. Almost half of the sample needs to improve their diet. More than 60% are dissatisfied with their body image. Most children have TV in their room and eat watching it
