Abstract
This article is based on a clear premise: many of the leftist Spanish citizens don’t share a strong patriotic feeling. In order to deepen this fact, the article focuses on the evolution of Spanish nationalist discourse from the II Republic to the Transition, being necessary to analyze two essential periods of Spanish history: the Civil War and Francoism .
