Más allá del desarrollo: decrecimiento

Abstract

La pregunta por la justa medida es hoy especialmente urgente. Paradójicamente, si nuestro sistema no crece, se derrumba la sociedad que genera, con graves consecuencias sobre todo para los sectores menos favorecidos por dicho paradigma; pero si crece como hasta ahora, lo que se desploma en el horizonte es el ecosistema del cual formamos parte y, con ello, nuestro futuro. Partiendo de la imposibilidad de un crecimiento exponencial futuro que el capitalismo ha necesitado hasta ahora para imponer su promesa de bienestar, ¿cómo generar (también en las periferias) una vida que merezca la pena ser vivida?

The question regarding the proper measure is nowdayas especially urgent. Paradoxically, if our system does not grow, it collapses the society that generates, with serious consequences mainly for the less well-off sectors by this paradigm; but if it grows as it has done so far, what collapses on the horizon is the ecosystem we are part of and, with it, our future. On the basis on the impossibility of a future exponential growth that capitalism has until now needed to impose its promise of welfare, how is it possible to generate (also in the peripheries) a life that is worth living?
