Abstract

The sedimentologic study of six cores made in the beach-barrier and lagoon of the Albufera des Crau (northeastern Menorca), reveals the presence of the upper Pleistocene - Holocene sequence that starts with a terrigenous sedimentation over an erosion surface on the Carboniferous micasquist, that grades to restricted marine muddy sediments with the stablishment of banks of the zooxanthelate scleractinia Cladocora caespitosa. The Quaternary sedimentation ends with beach-dune sands
