Servidumbre voluntaria y gubernamentalidad. Una propuesta de lectura foucaultiana de Étienne de La Boétie

Abstract

Este trabajo pretende introducir una propuesta de interpretación del texto clásico de Étienne de La Boétie sobre la servidumbre voluntaria desde la perspectiva que sobre el Estado y el poder desarrolla Foucault a finales de los años setenta a partir del concepto de gubernamentalidad. El estudio comparativo de estos dos autores, infrecuente en la bibliografía en español, puede enriquecer no solo la comprensión desde una perspectiva diferente de la emergencia del Estado moderno, las relaciones de poder que instaura y su pervivencia, sino también iluminar críticamente la proliferación en nuestros días de complejos dispositivos de subjetivación que producen voluntad de servir

The aim of this paper is to introduce a proposal for the interpretation of Étienne de La Boéie’s classic text on voluntary servitude from the perspective of the State and power developed by Foucault at the end of the 1970s based on the concept of governmentality. The comparative study of these two authors, infrequent in the Spanish bibliography, can enrich not only the understanding from a different perspective of the emergence of the modern state, the power relations it establishes and its survival, but also critically illuminate the proliferation in our days of complex devices of subjectivation that produce the will to serve
