Systematic observation is one of the primary assessment techniques used in early childhood education. This manual provides a structured guide that coherently organises the teaching-learning process for this subject, integrating essential conceptual content with teaching guidelines, examples contextualised within the early childhood classroom, and activity suggestions designed to foster pedagogical reflection. The manual is structured around two main themes: first, the concept of assessment in early childhood education from a theoretical, practical, and regulatory perspective; and second, an in-depth study of observation as a fundamental assessment technique for learning at this stage. Finally, it includes activities and case studies that facilitate the application of the content and the analysis of real-life situations in the school setting.
