Abstract

Digital image analysis is becoming an important tool in many areas of Mineralogy and Petrology. The application of this technique to characterise the texture and fabric of ancient pottery and to discriminate between different fabrics has been used succesfully. Measurement of morphological properties and grain size distribution were carried out using image processing microphotograhs of local Islamic pottery.
