Abstract
El artículo examina algunas características del Genius Populi Romani a lo largo de su historia y presta especial atención a su evolución desde que se introdujo su culto en el 218 a. C. hasta que Teodosio lo prohibió en el año 392. El siglo IV merece una especial consideración, principalmente, las relaciones del Genio con Diocleciano, Constantino, Constancio II y Juliano.
The article analyzes the characteristics of the Genius Populi Romani throughout its history and pays particular attention to developments since the introduction of his worship in 218 B.C., until Theodosius banned the cult in the year 392. The fourth century deserves special consideration, mainly the relationship of Genius with Diocletian, Constantine, Constantius II and Julian.
