Abstract
The influence of the Guadalfeo River in the hydrodynamic of the northern sector of Motril-Salobreña aquifer has been reviewed with the study of the water isotopic composition. In this area there are two main inputs to the aquifer, the recharge associated with the river infiltration and the recharge produced by the Escalate carbonated aquifer. The isotopic signal of both is different, therefore mixing ratios calculations have been accomplished considering as end members the river water and the Escalate aquifer water. The results show that groundwater flow paths are parallel to the river track and the water composition is different in each side of the river due to the recharge of the Escalate aquifer in only one of them. This situation is related to the water infiltration from the river Guadalfeo that is the responsible of the temporal groundwater divide generation
