AB En la biblioteca del Ministerio de Defensa se conserva un ejemplar de un mapa manuscrito titulado “Croquis geológico de Montesde Sierra Bullones a escala 1:20.000”, firmado por los ingenieros demontes Máximo Laguna y Luis Satorras, en 1861 y que había permanecido hasta ahora inédito para la historiografía geológica. Losautores fueron dos ingenieros de montes españoles que se habíandesplazado a Ceuta en Julio de 1860 para reconocer el territorio recién anexionado a España tras la Guerra de África (1859-1860). Losresultados fueron presentados en una memoria y también se levantaron un mapa geológico y uno de rodales. Años después, en 1877,la memoria fue publicada, sin incluir el mapa geológico. En el mapase diferencian cuatro unidades litológicas distintas y en ella se traza,con notable acierto, los principales rasgos geológicos del territorio.Este trabajo pretende dar a conocer a la comunidad científica estacartografía geológica inédita, que se adelanta en 56 años a la deDupuy de Lôme y Milans del Bosch de 1917, que hasta ahora seconsideraba la primera cartografía geológica de Ceuta
AB The library of the Ministry of Defense keeps of a handwrittenmap entitled “Geological sketch of Montes de Sierra Bullones at scale1: 20,000”, signed by the forestry engineers Máximo Laguna and LuisSatorras, in 1861. This map had remained unpublished until now,and therefore hidden for geological historiography. The authors weretwo Spanish forest engineers who had traveled to Ceuta in July 1860to recognize the territory recently annexed to Spain after the AfricanWar (1859-1860). The results were presented in a report and a geological map and a vegetation map were also created. Years later, in1877, the memory was published, without including the geologicalmap. Four different lithological units are distinguished on the map,and the main geological features of the territory are traced with remarkable success. This work aims to present to the scientific community this unpublished geological map, which is 56 years ahead of thatof Dupuy de Lôme and Javier Milans del Bosch in 1917, which untilnow was considered the first geological map of Ceuta
