AB La epidemia de gripe que azotó al mundogolpeó a Huelva en tres oleadas, que se hananalizado a lo largo de este estudio, siendola que se desarrolló en octubre de 1918 la demayor virulencia, dejando una cifra de muertosen el país que solo sería superada por la GuerraCivil. Este trabajo pretende estudiar el curso dela epidemia de gripe de 1918-19 en la ciudad deHuelva. Se ha realizado un profundo análisis dedocumentación tanto de fuentes hemerográficascomo archivísticas. Se ha hecho una lectura detodas aquellas noticias referentes a la gripe en eldiario La Provincia, y a la vez se ha procedido ala consulta y análisis de documentos del ArchivoHistórico Municipal de Huelva. Por otra parte,se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica detodos los trabajos relacionados con el tema. Estarevisión de la documentación ha aportado datossobre cómo se trabajó para hacer frente a laepidemia por parte de los distintos organismosy cómo llevó a la implantación de cambiostanto en los servicios de beneficencia como desanidad. Como conclusión general se puedeextraer que este acontecimiento histórico,impulso una serie de avances indispensableshasta la fecha en la lucha contra la enfermedad
AB The influenza epidemic that swept theworld hit Huelva in three waves, which havebeen analyzed throughout this study, wich theone that developed in October of 1918 beingthe most virulence and leaving a death toll inthe country only be surpassed by the Civil War.This work aims to study the course of the 1918-19 influenza epidemic in the city of Huelva. Athorough analysis of documentation from bothnewspaper sources and archival records has beencarried out. We have reviewed all news relatedto the influenza in the newspaper La Provincia,while also consulting and analyzing documentsfrom the Municipal Historical Archive ofHuelva. Additionally, a literature review of allwork related to the subject has been conducted.This review of the documentation has provideddata on how various organizations workedto tackle the epidemic, and how it led to theimplementation of changes in both charityservices and healthcare. A general conclusionthat can be drawn is that this historic eventspurred a series of indispensable advances in thefight against the disease up to that point
