T1 The end of ETA in the strategic thinking of the PNV

AB El presente artículo tiene como finalidad explicar cómo está encarando el PartidoNacionalista Vasco (PNV) la cuestión del significado político de las víctimas de ETA y con quéintención recurre al empleo de conceptos como “paz”, “convivencia” o “reconciliación” en el actualescenario de post-terrorismo al que suele referirse con la expresión “nuevo tiempo”. asimismo, eneste trabajo se muestra cómo la violencia terrorista perpetrada por ETA no ha perjudicado ni políticani electoralmente al PNV, pese a compartir ambos actores ideología nacionalista. este últimoaspecto resultó fundamental ya que durante los años de vigencia de ETA, el Partido NacionalistaVasco vinculó la desaparición de la citada banda terrorista a soluciones relacionadas con elincremento del soberanismo, oponiéndose a aquéllas otras procedentes del consenso entre los dosprincipales partidos de ámbito estatal (PP y PSOE), cuya eficacia ha sido probada por el tiempo, como la Ley de Partidos y el Pacto por las libertades y contra terrorismo
AB The purpose of this article is to explain how the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) isfacing the question of the political significance of the victims of ETA and with what intention itresorts to the use of concepts such as “peace”, “coexistence” or “reconciliation” in the current post- terrorism scenario that is often referred to as the "new time". likewise, this paper shows how theterrorist violence perpetrated by ETA has not harm the PNV politically or electorally, in spite of thefact that both actors share nationalist ideology. this last aspect was vital since during the years thateta was active, the Basque Nationalist Party linked the disappearance of the mentioned terroristband to solutions related to the increase of sovereignty, opposing those others solutions coming fromthe consensus between the two main political parties represented at national level (PP and PSOE), whose effectiveness has been proven by time, such as the Law of Parties and the agreerement onFreedoms and counter-terrorism
