T1 Aristocracia, matrimonio y conversión : crítica a una opinión generalizada

AB Se analiza uno de los factores que tradicionalmente se ha esgrimido para explicar el proceso de cristianización de la aristocracia romana del paganismo tardío: los matrimonios mixtos. Un análisis de los escasos testimonios de estas uniones (entre una mujer cristiana y un hombre pagano) permite sostener que las mujeres no influyeron de manera decisiva ni en la elección religiosa de sus esposos ni de sus hijos.___________________________________The author shows that the role of the aristocratic women in the process ofChristianization of the Roman aristocracy has been overstated. In fact, there are veryfew cases of attested intermarriage between Christian female and pagan male thesecases, women dis not exercise a significant influence as mothers and wives on religiouschoice.
