AB El artículo analiza la emigración española a Chile entre 2008 y 2014, con losobjetivos de definir el perfil del nuevo emigrante español a Chile, conocer las causasde su emigración, detectar los problemas iniciales de su proceso migratorio,identifi car su situación actual y conocer sus expectativas de futuro. Se ha utilizadouna estrategia metodológica mixta, cuantitativa y cualitativa, combinando investigaciónde primer y segundo orden. Se concluye que estos emigrantes son jóvenesaltamente cualifi cados, expulsados de España por la crisis y atraídos a Chile porlas oportunidades de adquirir experiencia laboral, que han encontrado una redmigratoria formada por otros españoles y que están ocupando empleos cualifi cadosque la mano de obra nacional no puede ocupar en los sectores de minería yenergía; no han encontrado difi cultades en su proceso migratorio, se encuentransatisfechos con su experiencia y entre sus expectativas predomina la idea de quedarseen Chile o reemigrar.
AB The article analyzes Spanish emigration to Chile between 2008 and 2014, withthe aim of defi ning the profi le of new Spanish emigrants to Chile, understandingthe reasons for their migration, identifying initial problems in the migration process,identifying the conditions of their current situation and understanding theirfuture expectations. We used a mixed quantitative and qualitative methodologicalstrategy, combining fi rst and second order research. We have concluded that theseemigrants are highly skilled young people, expelled from Spain by the crisis andattracted to Chile by the opportunities to gain work experience; in Chile they encountera migratory network of Spanish emigrants who hold qualifi ed jobs that thenational population could not fi ll in the mining and energy sectors; they have notencountered any particular diffi culties in their migration process, are satisfi ed withtheir experiences and their expectations for the future include staying in Chile orre-emigrating.
