AB El radicalismo y el fundamentalismo no pueden ser entendidos como dosmanifestaciones inherentes al Islam, sino como los resultados últimos de un procesocultural que encuentra sus raíces, en el siglo XX, en el totalitarismo occidental. Enel presente artículo, se analiza el sustrato filosófico sobre el que se sustentaron lossistemas totalitarios occidentales de principios del siglo XX, con la finalidad de mostrarsus nexos de unión con las tendencias radicales islámicas contemporáneas.
AB Neither radicalism nor fundamentalism can be understood as manifestationsinherent to Islam, but rather as the ultimate outcome of a cultural process rooted in20th century Western totalitarianism. In this paper I analyse the philosophical substratumon which the Western totalitarian systems of the 20th century were based in orderto show their links with contemporary Islamic radical trends.
