AB En este trabajo se presenta una hipótesisinterpretativa para algunos restos metálicos queformaban parte del carro hallado en la tumba 17de la necrópolis orientalizante de La Joya (Huelva),durante las excavaciones dirigidas por J.P. Garrido,en la campaña de 1971. La morfología de losobjetos y su disposición en el terreno sugierensu interpretación como un original sistema desuspensión que, por lo conocido, no cuenta conparangones en la carretería antigua. Por otra parte,se dan a conocer otros datos complementariossobre el material metálico del carro obtenidosdurante el proceso de conservación-restauraciónrealizado en el IAPH entre 2008 y 2012, incluidala presentación de algunos materiales inéditos. Conello se pretende contribuir a un mejor conocimientode este excepcional testimonio arqueológico y dela tecnología del transporte rodado en el mundoantiguo.
AB In this paper, an interpretative hypothesisis presented for some metal remains that werepart of the chariot found in tomb 17 of theOrientalizing necropolis of La Joya (Huelva),during the season of archaeological excavationsleaded by J.P. Garrido in 1971. The morphology ofthe objects and their arrangement in situ suggesttheir interpretation as an original suspensionsystem that, as far as is known, has no parallels inancient carriage construction. Additionally, othercomplementary data about the chariot’s metalfindings are disclosed. These new data have beenobtained during the restoration process carriedout at the IAPH between 2008 and 2012, andthey include the presentation of some previouslyunpublished remains. The aim is to contribute toa better knowledge of this exceptional vehicle aswell as a greater understanding on technology ofwheeled transport in the ancient world.
