AB Los sedimentos del estuario de Plentzia fueron analizados para conocersu naturaleza y las concentraciones de metales pesados que albergaban. Sedeterminó que este era un estuario arenoso y siliciclástico con una gran concentraciónde material orgánico y bioclástico (sobre todo en la zona exterior).Por otro lado se encontraron niveles significativos de Cr y Ni relacionablescon las industrias metalúrgicas de Mungia. Pese a ello la contaminación pormetales pesados era baja. Comparando los resultados de este estudio conlos de otros estuarios de la zona, este tiene una naturaleza más arenosa yun nivel de metales pesados en sedimento más bajo, especialmente comparadocon estuarios industrializados como el Nervión
AB Plentzia estuary bed sediments were analysed in order to determine theirnature and heavy metal concentrations. It was established that this is a siliciclasticsandy estuary with a high concentration of organic and shell materials(mainly in the outer zone). Moreover, significant levels of Cr and Ni werefound, related possibly to Mungia metallurgical industries. Despite this, heavymetal contamination in bed sediments is low. Comparing the results of thisstudy with those of other nearby estuaries, this was sandier. However, the levelsof heavy metals in the sediments are lower, especially compared with industrialisedestuaries, such as the Nervion
