AB A partir de la revisión de desarrolloshistóricos como la firma del Tratado deWad-Ras (1860) o el Protectorado español enMarruecos (1912-1956), este artículo analizael proceso de organización e institucionalizaciónde individuos y comunidades musulmanasen España entre 1900 y 1992. Para ello,examina la impronta organizativa de las comunidadesmusulmanas en el Norte de África(Ceuta y Melilla); subraya el papel de la educaciónen el proceso de visibilización de estascomunidades durante el Protectorado y ladictadura franquista, y analiza la visibilidadreligiosa alcanzada a través del registro asociativoy la creación de asociaciones de musulmanesespañolas. Todo ello culminó en lafirma del Acuerdo de Cooperación en 1992entre el Estado y la comunidad musulmana.Aunque no sería objetivo asegurar un continuumhistórico, se concluye que este contactoha hecho modificar ciertos parámetros institucionalesy sociales, ha aportado estructurasorganizativas comunitarias y ha dejado evidenciasmateriales (mezquitas y cementerios).
AB Beginning with a review of historicaldevelopments such as the Treaty of Wad-Ras (1860) and the Spanish protectorate inMorocco (1912-1956), this article analysesthe process of organising and institutionalisingMuslim individuals and communities inSpain between 1900 and 1992. In order todo this, it examines the organisational hallmarksof the Muslim communities in North Africa(Ceuta and Melilla); underlines the roleof education in the process of making thesecommunities visible during the protectorateand the Franco dictatorship; and analyses thereligious visibility achieved through the registerof associations and the creation of SpanishMuslim associations. All this culminatedin the signing of the Cooperation Agreementin 1992 between the State and the Muslimcommunity. Although a historical continuumcannot be established, it is concluded thatthis contact has modified certain institutionaland social parameters, provided communityorganisation structures and left physical evidence(mosques and cemeteries).
